To glorify GOD with the talents and gifts he has bestowed upon us through his mercy and love.
John replied,” No one can receive anything unless GOD gives it from heaven.”
John 3:27 NLT
For out of his fullness we have received one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, even favor upon favor and gift upon gift. John 1:16 AMP
The Praise in the Park was conceived with the belief that all believers should unite and praise GOD for his magnificence. So Praise in the Park was set up with the first held in Thompson Park in 2006.
It is written, in the word, over 300 times we are ordered to praise GOD. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will- to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. And He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the time will have reached their fulfillment- to bring all things in heaven and earth together under one head, even Christ. Ephesians 1:3-10
Praise in the Park’s mission is to unite believers in a day of praise, through worship and dedication of song to the Lord of lords and the King of kings. We also wish to bring glory to Jesus Christ, the one and only son of God, through the talents he has bestowed upon the performers and volunteers. For talents are gifts given through God to each one in his measure, and who should hide their gifts?
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
The mission of Praise in the Park is not to make money or to take people who already attend a church to a different church; we are not trying to promote any group, band, soloist, volunteer, donator, or any one church. We only want to Praise GOD!!
We pray that if someone does not already have a church to attend or, more importantly, don’t know Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they may find Jesus through praise and worship at this day organized to praise HIM.
I, myself, cannot play the drums, piano, the bass guitar, the guitar, or any other instrument you may see being used at the Praise in the Park. I cannot sing with a pleasing sound, if you heard me you’d agree. So God gave me the talent to mix sound and some planning and organizational skills and though maybe these are small gifts I will use them as I feel led by the Lord Jesus Christ.
God, as you have read in the scriptures above, knew before I was born what talents he had saved form me. As I grew up I knew not what he had predestined for me but in high school I took electronics and later in life I held a job as a restaurant manager where I learned organization and time management. These life lessons I learned, I feel, where leading to this day of praise.
God has put me in places at the right time to meet and befriend a lot of the “behind the scenes workers” and without God first and these Friends the Praise in the Park may never had its first but now we venture into Praise in the Park’s third year.
To God I thank for all the things you have done to my knowledge and those things that are still hidden. I give you, God all the thanks, praise and honor in your son’s name, Jesus Christ.
To the many people “behind the scenes” I thank Christ that He allowed me to meet you and I thank you for all you have done. I pray for continued blessings for each one of you. God Bless.
